Short Synopsis: 'Changing the Truth' focuses on an orphanage in Uganda, and the children who have lost their families due to HIV/Aids and to the war in Northern Uganda. This documentary shows the work of a group of American volunteers as they provide medical assistance, help the children build a sustainable garden, and develop a marching band. Through art and play therapy, friendship and love, the film ultimately shows the resiliency of these children, and how a small group of people can really make a difference in the lives of 180 orphaned children.
Detailed Synopsis: In Uganda, there is joy and there is sorrow. Many children have lost their entire families due to HIV/ AIDS and to the war in the North. In this documentary, you will meet 180 of these children who now have a safe place to live, and a new sense of family.Change the Truth is an organization which provides assistance to this orphanage. The children are now able to eat three meals a day, attend school, and most importantly, feel loved.Though we can't change their past, we can change their future. Through the course of this film, you will hear personal stories from the children about their past, and their present. You will also see how a group of American volunteers are helping them have hope for their future.You will see how a pair of eye glasses can really make a difference; how a new coat of paint and new bedding can create pride; how planting a sustainable garden can feed their bellies and their souls; and how new musical instruments can bring great joy for both the giver and the receiver.In this documentary, there is joy and there is sorrow.
