Short Synopsis: There are 2.2 million orphaned children in Uganda. They have lost their families due to the war in the north or to HIV/Aids. Some have been abandoned on the streets, and some have been kidnapped and forced to commit unspeakable acts of violence. Loss is pervasive, and emotional wounds run deep.'Change the Truth' focuses on 180 of these children who now call St. Mary Kevin Orphanage home. Here, they have a safe place to live, food and clothes, and access to education. Detailed Synopsis: Imagine if you had lost your entire family to war or disease, witnessed their murders at the hands of Ugandan rebels, or even been forced to participate in unspeakable acts of violence. For many of Uganda's 2.2 million orphans, those are their stories. They are different, but also the same. Loss is pervasive, and emotional wounds run deep.St. Mary Kevin Orphanage, in the small town of Kajjansi, is now home to 180 of Uganda's orphaned children. Here, they have a safe place to live, food and clothes, and access to education. But many of their emotional traumas have yet to be addressed.Change the Truth is an organization based in Kansas City, Missouri, which provides assistance to these children.
